Work Experience

Package handler - FedEx Ground

3 months

In early October 2019, I took a job doing seasonal work for FedEx ground in their shipping warehouse. This job consisted of a lot of manual labor and hard work. My basic duties involved packing freight trucks with packages meant for each truck's destination. Productivity was a big deal with this position, if we didn't work fast enough it could cause delays for FedEx customers. As package handlers we were required to maintain a packing rate of at least 400 packages scanned and loaded per hour. During the holiday season, we moved upwards of 100 thousand packages in a 6 hour shift with no downtime. This position taught me how to work as hard as I could and push myself to maintain standards in rough conditions.

Salesman - Vector Marketing

3 months

In an attempt to gain some sales and marketing experience, I took a short term position with Vector Marketing. I sold professional grade kitchen equipment to prospects I found and tracked down myself. Over my time there I made a total of 7 sales totaling out to $8,250 in total. My first sales demo lead to a nice $1,200 sale. Vector taught me to find leads through a referral process, where in my customers would refer me to possible prospects that I could call and try to book product demonstrations with. This job taught me how to chase down leads, improved my cold calling skills, and gave me real world sales experience.

Employee trainer - SmashBurger

1 year

I worked for smashburger from June 2018 to August 2019. I trained new and existing employees wishing to take on a management position. I trained them in customer service, book-keeping, restaurant upkeep, and SmashBurger's "Gold Standard of Excellence". Over my time I trained 9 new managers who took over or opened their own stores, each one of my trainees have been very successful with SmashBurger since our training together. Throughout my time there I developed a knack for great customer service. I received more than 300 positive customer surveys mentioning me by name. These surveys brought our customer approval rating up from 80% at the time of my hiring to 91% held steady throughout my employment.

Archives Assistant - SBSA Inc.

3 months

I currently work in the archives department for SBSA Inc. Engineering Firm. I inventory, repair, and organize all blueprints and project proposals. I am the fastest and most productive archives employee SBSA has had to date according to our productivity tracker.

SBSA Recruitment Marketing Project

In 30 days, I worked with a multi-million dollar engineering company to create a recruitment campaign on social media, as well as employee value propositions throughout the company.

My music — Braden Schmidt

These are a few of the first projects I made within FL Studio Pro, a music production software that I taught myself. Since creating these tracks I have expanded my talents in the music arena. I've learned how to use the same software to record, mix, and master full songs. I launched a SoundCloud back in September of 2019, and have since amassed more than 300 followers and released a song that got more than 35 thousand plays in the first 2 months. I believe these projects showcase my ability to pick up a new skill and put it to use in a very quick manor.

Blog - Past 30 Days — Braden Schmidt

Over the month of November 2019 I took on a challenge to write an article everyday for 30 days straight. I wrote on numerous topics ranging from world issues to simple stories from my past. Through this challenge I improved my writing skills, and learned how to dedicate myself to a task and complete a goal no matter what gets in my way. The linked post will bring you to a recap I wrote at the end of the month summarizing my experience. If you'd like to read through some of the articles I wrote over the month, you can find them all on the blog page of my website.
