How to Find Employee Email Addresses

To whom it may concern,
I saw your open position for...
^ Ever written an email like that?
Yeah. A lot of us have.
Thing is, that kind of email isn’t helping you crush the job hunt.
If you’re tired of blasting out applications and emails and never getting responses from other humans, I want to share with you a quick hack that lets you find employee email addresses at any company.
Here’s how to be different on the job hunt–just by reaching out to someone else.
Step 0: Decide which company you want to target.
Step 1: Go to hunter.io.
Step 2: Enter the name of the company you’re targeting. Hunter will automatically pull up the domain. Or, if you already know the domain, just enter it into the search bar.
Step 3: Hunter tells you how emails at that organization are usually formatted.
If you already have the name of the employee you want to contact, you’re all set to email them! But keep reading if you’re not sure who you want to email yet...
Step 4: Hop on to LinkedIn and search for “[role] [company]”. (You could also go to the company’s website and look on their team page to find the person you want to contact, but a search on LinkedIn usually has the quickest results.)
If you’re not sure which roles to search for, try:
- The role title or area you’re interested in
- Talent Acquisition Manager
- Recruiting Manager
- Hiring Manager
- General Manager
- Operations Manager
- Corporate Recruiter
- Technical Recruiting Manager (for tech roles)
- Engineering Manager (for tech roles)
It’s up to you to choose who to email. But the person you choose to email should make sense to email. If you’re interested in a customer service position, probably shouldn’t reach out to the engineering manager. Instead, go for someone in the role or someone who heads that department up (like a customer success manager!).
And voila! You’ve just found out how to email anyone at any company. You can now send them that awesome email you wrote.
You can use this hack to:
- Reach out to an employee at any company
- Invite someone currently in the role you’d like to be in to coffee to ask questions about their job
- Show you’re immensely excited about the company’s mission and why you’re ready to create value for them
- Send a project you made specifically for that company to someone on the team
- Be different on the job hunt
When you send that email, here are a few extra handy tips:
- Since you’re emailing another person, use their first name!
- Good emails are quick, to the point, and clear about what you’re asking or giving.
- Send thank-you notes afterwards!
